Acne Scar Treatment Tips

Acne is most common skin conditions . It is also called common acne. Acne afflicting 40 to 50 million Americans. Nearly 80 percent of people aged 11 to 30 years have acne, most often on the face, chest and back. However, acne is not restricted to any age group; adults in their 20s, 30s and even into their 40s can get acne. "Old-looking" skin can sometimes have less to do with aging than with a defect that makes the skin look prematurely old. One such skin problemand a fairly common oneis acne scars. Healed acne does leave scars in some people, however, and it is not easy to predict who will have scars after acne and who will not. Most cases of acne responds to treatment and clears up without leaving scars.Severe, inflamed, cystic acne always leaves scars after healing, but in some people even superficially inflamed acne can result in scarring. it can leave a red or hyperpigmented mark on the Skin.White blood cells and inflammatory molecules may remain at the site of an active acne lesion for days or even weeks. In people who are susceptible to scarring, the result may be an acne scar

Acne scars starts with causes of scarring, prevention of scarring, types of scars, and treatments for scars. Scars may also contribute to an appearance of age as the skin loses its elasticity over the years.Acne scars two types of tissue response to the inflammation of acne: (1) increased tissue formation, and (2) loss of tissue. Most serious scarring is caused by the more severe forms of acne, with nodules more likely to leave permanent scars than other types of acne. There are some topical skin care products and medications that can improve mild scarring, but most acne scars are treated with a combination of surgical procedures and skin resurfacing. The redness or hyperpigmentation is seen as the skin goes through its healing and remodeling process, which takes approximately 6-12 months. If no more acne lesions develop in that area, the skin can heal normally. Any color change or skin defect still present after 1 year is considered to be a permanent defect or scar.

Treatment Tips of Acne Scar

4.Filler substances are best used for shallow, saucer-shaped acne scars.

Home Acne Treatment - Better than Proactiv

Dermatologists encourage parents to seek medical treatment for teenagers with acne and warn against taking a "wait and see" approach. "Many parents are often stuck in the mindset of past generations that nothing can really be done about acne," says Sandra Swanson, a Charlotte, N.C. dermatologist. "They still believe in those old wives' tales that chocolate, pizza, french fries, and their child's hygiene habits are to blame" Dermatologists, however, almost always fail to recommend the safe, natural, and inexpensive treatment that actually cure acne permanently.

Using a natural acne remedy on the inside and out is your best acne solution. For exterior cleaning, try to find a product without alcohol, as it will dry your skin. Tea Tree oil is natural, but also very strong. I wouldn't use it for mild to moderate acne unless it had other ingredients in it to dilute it. If you have severe acne, that may work for you. An acne product that protects your skin and prevents acne from coming back is even better. There's one listed on my web site, see below.

Natural acne products can actually clear the skin for good, only requiring occasional follow up treatments, whereas conventional methods can require constant treatment, and the results disappear as soon as the individual stops using the medicine. Also, many acne treatments prescribed by doctors or dermatologists are antibiotic in nature. Continuous antibiotic treatment can result in antibiotic resistance in the body, meaning when you really need your body to respond to antibiotic treatment, such as in illness, it may have built a tolerance and need more powerful meds to respond correctly. Some prescribed acne medications can even be dangerous, and are to be taken only for the most severe cases of acne and with the utmost caution.

Prescription topical medicines can result in side effects, the skin may look worse for a while before hopefully improving. Other side effects include stinging, burning, redness, peeling, scaling or discoloration of the skin. Similarly some prescription oral medicines can have side effects such as increased tendency to sunburn, upset stomach, dizziness or light-headedness & changes in skin color. Also some drugs decrease the effectiveness of birth control pills making it necessary to use a backup birth control method.

For most mild to moderate forms of acne, daily use of a good skin cleanser is enough to control the outbreaks. However, there are many forms of the disease that will require a more serious acne treatment for effective results. Acne on the back, sometimes called 'bacne', is often resistant to normal cleansers for instance. Bacne often requires additional cleansers that are too harsh to be used on facial areas, but work well on the back because the skin is much tougher there. Glycolic acid is one such cleanser that can be effective for acne on the back, upper arms, or legs, but is not recommended for the neck or face.

Although there are some topical skin care products and medications that can improve mild scarring and acne problems, almost all of them are artificial and invasive methods. For example, acne scars usually are treated with a combination of surgical procedures and skin resurfacing. On the other hand, natural products only have natural ingredients and biological substances. Such is the case with tea tree oil, green tea extract, Vitamin E, rapeseed oil, Aloe vera, and some of the essential oils, which had long been proven to act upon blemishes on the skin.

How to Eliminate Acne

Dermatologists and researchers have been trying to discover the best acne medication. Acne, no matter how miniscule a disorder it may seem, needs adequate attention. These tiny bumps on one's face could elicit major effects on a person. Not only vanity motivates experts to find or formulate the most excellent acne medication. Ridicule for having a pockmarked complexion is often one of the leading causes of low self-esteem among adolescents. What's worse is that this lack of confidence may be brought until one reaches his maturity.

Spironolactone works as an androgen receptor blocker. This drug decreases androgen production in the ovaries and adrenal glands. Side effects from spironolactone can include breast tenderness and menstrual irregularity. For this reason, doctors usually add oral contraceptives like Ortho Tri-Cyclen and Estrostephave to compliment acne treatments and ease potential spironolactone side effects. Ironically though, spironolactone is recommended for women who are not candidates for oral contraceptives.

Acne skin care products performance can greatly depend on how an individual's skin type reacts to it. It must conform to the skin's characteristics, which may include skin sensitivity, tone, ethnicity and gender. There are many acne skin care products in the market with different active ingredients and solutions for different skin types. Acne prone skin can be very sensitive to different chemicals and must be very careful in using different products. There are different tips and techniques for mild to severe cases of acnes. Some acne skin care products may not work for some people in helping them improve the look and condition of their skin.

How can I avoid acne scarring? Because we know so little about what causes one person to scar more easily than another, the best way to avoid scarring is to prevent acne. It's important to treat the condition early in its course, and for as long as necessary. The more inflammation you can prevent, the less likely you are to scar. In the event that you do get acne lesions, it's important to treat them with the proper medication rather than squeeze or pick at them. Handling the skin squeezing with your fingernails, poking pimples with a pin, or whatever significantly increases damage to surrounding tissue, and thereby increases the chance that the lesion will leave a permanent scar and acne scar treatment will be necessary.

Unlike the small whitehead pustules that most people with acne experience on the surface of their skin, cystic acne appears as large irritated bumps, often with the pustule hidden deep beneath the skin's surface. These cysts are caused when hormonal shifts result in your skin glands overproducing oil (sebum) at an unnatural rate. The gland becomes swollen and eventually bursts, but not before the sebum has swelled and hardened into a clump too large to escape through your pores. The irritation from your gland bursting results in inflammation, and buried pustule can remain in your skin for a very long time.

In the past, you could only have a peel in the dermatologist's office. Now there is a home treatment alternative. Esthetician's Choice is a medical grade peel that you can use in the comfort of your home. The main ingredient is Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA) which is considered to be the most effective skin peel product on the market. TCA is a non toxic chemical that has been used by dermatologists for over 30 years to treat acne and other skin conditions.

Your Guide To Acne Skin Care

Azelaic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Resorcinol, sulphur, and Adapalene are products that approach acne skin care with the intent to reduce clogged pores by peeling or sloughing off dead skins cells. Salicylic Acid is found in over-the-counter acne care products, such as Stridex, as are Resorcinol and sulphur. While most acne skin care treatments in this group target the surface of the skin, Adapalene, a prescription-only medication, reduces the build-up of dead skin cells inside the pore itself. Also a prescription-only skin care product, Azelaic Acid has the added benefit of killing P. acnes bacteria.

ProActiv is a three step topical acne fighting system that does not require a prescription, although it does contain prescription grade Benzoyl peroxide. Accutane is an oral prescription medication. There are many side affects associated with the use of Accutane, such as chapped lips, dry skin, nosebleeds, eye irritation, joint and muscle pain, hair thinning, skin rash, intestinal problems, urinary problems, headaches, and vision problems. There are even some psychological side effects, such as depression. Accutane is not prescribed to women who are pregnant or nursing, due to serious birth defects. Retin-A has very few side effects, and is available in both prescription and over the counter forms. Retin-A is used to treat a variety of skin problems other than acne as well, including wrinkles, lines, scars, and discoloration.

One way to tell if hormones are at play is to consider other signs of an imbalance. For example, hormones may factor in as causes for adult acne if they appear along with a severe case of premenstrual syndrome or PMS.

Salicyclic Acid is very effective in the treatment of blackheads. It can loosen and soften thick, clogged pores. However, it does little to prevent the development of new blemishes.

One big problem is that some people do not understand the acne problem for the mere reason that they never suffered from it, obviously this creates a terrible situation where the teen is not only ridiculed for the acne he suffers from, he gets this from others that very clearly do not have the problem. In more recent years, however, the problems faced by those who suffer from acne are being more widely addressed, and the social and psychological effects being studied more closely.

Fast Facts About Acne - Uncover the Myths!

There are several forms of medication, some preventive and others curative. Preventive medication stresses on keeping the skin squeaky clean to prevent the incidence of clogged pores. Antiseptic liquid cleansers like Cetaphil cleanse the skin without causing any irritation. In fact, these should form an integral part of your daily skin care regime.

During puberty girls experience an increased likelihood and severity of acne from the increased oil secretions in the skin. Puberty is often a difficult time and acne only adds to the difficulty. During puberty girls usually experience increased irritability, mood swings, and feelings of low self esteem. Even girls who have been very sure of themselves may suffer from low self esteem when puberty sets in. These changes may be even more severe in the girl also suffers from acne.

There are 2 ways to treat acne, topical (applied to the skin) or systematic (taken by mouth). Both over the counter (OTC) (meaning no prescription is necessary) remedies are available. The goals of treatment are to heal existing lesions, to prevent new lesions forming, stop scarring, minimize psychological stress and embarrassment caused by the disease. Drug treatment is aimed at reducing several problems that play a part in causing acne: abnormal clumping of the cells in the follicles, increased oil production, bacteria, and inflammation.

One popular ingredient in some of the leading acne treatments out there, such as Proactiv and Neutrogena On-The-Spot, is the antibacterial agent Benzoyl Peroxide. Benzoyl Peroxide, or BP for short, works by attacking the p. acnes bacteria that build up in your pores, and is very effective for most people at clearing up current acne (note that BP does not prevent acne from forming, and acne products based on BP are not being honest if they make this claim). For most cases of acne, purchasing BP alone and applying it is just as effective as using expensive name brand products.

Stress does not cause acne. Stress is a part of our daily lives and believe it or not it is not a contributing factor to the acne residing in your face. Only severe stress treated by the doctor may cause acne to erupt and then only as a side effect of the drugs a person may be taking. If this is the case, consult your doctor immediately.

Body acne can arise from series of acne triggers. For instance, excessive rubbing or constriction by clothing can cause acne mechanica. On the other hand, body acne can result from pores on the back getting clogged by sunscreens or hair products that dribble down onto the back.

Daily Tips for Acne Prevention

Your own body will naturally attempt to clear the clogged pores by sending in certain specialized cells that invade the follicles to help clean it up. However, in the process, the wall of the follicles may weaken and rupture, emptying the contents of the follicles into the surrounding tissue. When this occurs, swelling or redness can develop around the affected follicles, resulting in the larger bumps or pimples characteristics of acne. These are known as papules and pustules and can sometimes cause scarring.

Instead of using medicine that may have side effects, try using natural methods to cure Acne. For example, a soap made from Echinacea and other herbal ingredients is an effective antibiotic facial cleanser that helps fight acne and restore clear skin. Tea tree oil also has known antibiotic properties and serves as a mild anesthetic that will soothe the irritated skin. There are also other natural skin care products available that have been proven being effective in improving acne.

While acne is largely caused by excessive skin oils and the bacteria that eat that oil, a degree of control can be obtained simply by keeping your face and hair clean, in milder cases. This is important, as well as the right diet. Some foods are thought to aggravate acne, so it is a good idea to watch your diet and find out if there is a pattern between what you eat and breakouts of acne.

Acne treatments can be done with the help of benzoyl peroxide, proactive solution, antibiotics, tretinion, isotretinion, contraceptive pills, salicylic acid, adapalene, laser treatment, blue light treatment and herbal remedies. 90% of adolescents have acne. Acne can be treated in various ways. Exfoliating the skin, using topical bactericidals, topical antibiotics, oral antibiotics, hormonal treatment, external retinoids, oral retinoids, and phototherapy are some of the methods of treating acne. The non inflammatory acne can be treated with azelaic, salicytic acid, topical retinoids and benzoyl peroxide. The mild inflammatory acme can be treated with topical antibiotics. Isotretinion and topical retinoids are used to treat moderate inflammatory acne. Contraceptive pills with cyproterone can be used by females with virilization to treat severe inflammatory acne.

Keeping in shape can help fight acne by fighting off negative stress levels that can come from negative self-esteem and depression. However, some safeguards need to be in place to ward off acne that can result from your workout routines. First, watch which products you use on your body because you'll most likely be sweating. With any sunscreen's for outdoor workout activities and any make-up or other cosmetics, check for "noncomedogenic" and "oil-free" on the labels to help prevent pore clogging. And when your workout is finished, wash the products off as soon as possible, especially if you'll be going into a steam room or sauna where your pores will be opening up more. You don't want these lotions and other cosmetics getting into your pores and clogging them up, resulting in blemishes.

Budget Friendly Acne Home Cures

Acne scars, like any type of scarring, can seldom be permanently removed. Fortunately, there are several acne treatments now available that can help the scarred area return to a more "normal" appearance.

The most common "trigger foods" for acne are milk and all dairy products, wheat and most grain products, and refined sugar. Avoiding these foods is usually not enough to completely remove acne, however. Most people need to eat the most natural diet for humans to completely control and eliminate acne.

Acne Skin Care Tips that Work

The best choice for good acne skin care is to wear no makeup atall. But if you feel you must wear makeup, choose products labeled noncomedogenic -- that means they will not clog your pores. Be aware that these products may still cause acne in some people. Above all, avoid makeup with an oil base. Read the labels carefully and use sparingly.

There sure is a lot of confusion out there regarding acne prevention. Some people say to scrub your face all day, eat the right foods, avoid sweat, exercise, and on and on. Unfortunately, these have nothing to do with acne prevention.

You might think that treating acne requires you to see and consult for prescription. Well, you can actually treat it by yourself! You can find solutions right in your home or garden! Applying toothpaste in your acne and letting it stay overnight is just one and actually the most common home treatment for acne most people do. You can also try a variety of paste or mask that are great options made from different plant species. You can choose from applying salt and vinegar solution, lime, ripe tomatoes, methi(fenugreek) leaves, lemon, dried basil leaves, mint juice, cucumber, corn flour and egg white, sandalwood, roasted and powdered pomgranate, ground radish, oatmeal, almond powder, honey, ground orange peel, nutmeg and milk, turmeric and tender neem, ground sesame seeds, papaya, and drumstick pods and leaves. Truly natural home treatments for acne!

There seems to be a growing number of different treatments but usually over the counter products come in the form of topical cleansers, soaps, washes, lotions, creams, gels or even pads and patches that are applied onto the skin. When using these kinds of preparations it is important, that you cover all of the area where you have acne because then you will also be treating the hidden blemishes that you can't yet see as well as the acne breakouts that you can. Expect some trials and errors as you experiment with the different treatments available, it may take you a while before you find the right type or combination of products that work for you. Whatever you do, don't use more than one treatment at a time, particularly with medicated products, discontinue one before you try out another.

Acne isn't really helped by the sun, either. Although a suntan can temporarily make acne look less severe, it won't help it go away permanently. So don't soak up those rays - either under the sun or from a tanning bed - in an effort to help your skin.

In general, over-the-counter acne treatments and traditional prescription medications have not proven effective in the reduction and elimination of acne. There are other less traditional ways to approach the treatment of acne. When delving into non-traditional medicine most are dealing with approaches such as acupuncture, herbal medicines, homeopathic medicine, mind/body medicine, Ayurveda and Kampo as well as dietary and nutritional considerations.

Why Is Acne Ruining Your Life

People who suffer from acne should, at the very least, learn what skin care products are available that will help keep acne under control. I'm sure you understand how that a ton of acne skin care products are available so it is not difficult to find skin care products, it is hard to figure out what is actually going to work for you. Also everyone is unique, so what works for you will not work for another person. Don't get discouraged, you will find a product that works for you, it just may take some time to find the right thing.

Retin-a is a acne skin care product that is applied to your skin and to treat acne, acne scarring and stretch marks. There are other topically applied acne products out there such as essential oils. Essential oils have become very popular and can even be found in some grocery stores and large drug stores. You will definitely be able to find them in a natural foods store. Try specific essential oils such as tea tree oil, Rosewood oil, clove oil and Bergamot oil.

One prescription product that has benefited a lot of people is Accutane, but you must have a prescription from your doctor to buy this product. Accutane is only prescribed to people who have bad acne because this is a very strong medication that you swallow and it does have side effects. Never take any medication without looking into the side effects. Sometimes it seems as if the side effects are worse than the problem!

An extremely popular, non-prescription acne skin care product is ProActiv. ProActiv main fighting power is it's prescription strength Benzoyl peroxide. This is a system with three parts to it; a renewing cleanser, revitalizing toner and repairing lotion.

If you do not have severe acne and are just starting your search for acne skin care, you should try the most natural products like the essential oils first, if those do not work then you can move on to more aggressive treatment and go from there. If you have severe acne then you should definitely be seeking the help of a professional. Specifically a dermatologist. They really are there to help you and you should not put off getting help from them. For example, my nephew had a severe case of acne. When they took him to the dermatologist that doctor told them that his face was totally infected. He ended up taking an antibiotic and everything cleared up beautifully. Now, he looks great! So you see there may be other things going on other than acne that you will not know unless you go to a doctor. The sooner you get your acne under control the happier and confident you will feel.

Back Acne- What YOU Need to Know

For some people, getting back acne is not as bad as getting facial acne.It is bad enough when you suffer from acne on your face, but what about back acne. After all, skin imperfections on one's back are easier to hide under a layer of clothing - unless he or she has to wear a swimsuit to spend time at the beach or pool. In such cases, back acne can cause feelings of self-consciousness; no matter how attractive a person's body is, having zits or pimples on one's back can be disconcerting, not to mention uncomfortable.

The causes of back acne - or "bacne" - are pretty much similar to what causes pimples to emerge on other parts of the body. The back is filled with sebaceous glands, which secrete a kind of oil called sebum. If excessive amounts of this oil are produced and not removed immediately, the pores and the hair follicles on a person's back will become clogged, which then encourages bacteria to attack and inflame skin tissue. Back acne is the result of this. Chest and back acne is more prevalent in males. Back acne is sometimes more difficult to treat because some of the lesions can become deep and inflamed.

It is then very important to make sure that one's back is kept clean and free of dead cells in order to prevent back acne. Regular bathing and exfoliation is important. It is also advisable to keep the skin free from perspiration; wiping one's back dry after strenuous activity or changing a sweat-soaked shirt as soon as possible would discourage pimples on the back from forming.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the pressure and chafing that results from wearing tight clothing or carrying heavy backpacks can contribute to back acne. Perhaps it would be best then to wear looser-fitting clothes at least some of the time, or try alternating the use of backpacks with other types of bags - those that do not put weight or pressure on the back. A person does not have to totally give up wearing tight clothes or using backpacks; he or she just has to learn to balance them with the use of other objects to minimize the risk of getting back acne.

Mild cases of bacne can be treated with over-the-counter medications and other skin care formulations. Some of these medications contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Those interested in natural back acne remedies may try using soaps, creams, and ointments that contain ingredients such as tea tree oil, neem, and basil. Another thing that might be able to help treat the back acne is a mixture of lye soap ad tea tree oil. These herb extracts are beneficial for those suffering from nearly all types of acne because they have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and antibacterial properties. In addition to helping treat pimples, they can also restore the skin's suppleness and smoothness.

More severe cases of back acne, or infected pimples that have developed into pustules or cysts, will require the specialized care of a dermatologist or other skin specialists. If the back acne is stubborn in nature, a doctor may may prescribe for you an oral prescription of antibiotics like tetracycline or minocycline. Left untreated, these blemishes will develop into deep and unsightly scars that may be permanent. Taking measures to prevent and treat back acne is always in your best interest; your skin will look and feel good, and your back will thank you for it.

Tried, Tested, and True? A Review of the Proactiv Acne Solution

Acne is a complex skin disorder, affecting millions of people world-wide, and influenced by many different factors. Given that there are so many skin types, acne product combinations, and skin care regimens out there, it is hardly surprising that no single product seems to prevent acne for everyone. Proactiv, which has gained a lot of attention recently through celebrity endorsement, is another set of acne products that some people love and others hate. This article gives you a run-down on how Proactiv is meant to work, as well as a brief report on my own ongoing Proactiv experience.

Proactiv is a skin care system that uses three basic steps to address existing acne and prevent future breakouts. The general idea is to remove the sources that cause acne while also healing existing blemishes. Before acne becomes the inflamed pimple that we are all so fond of, it can be present in a non-inflammatory form, as a blocked and enlarged hair follicle that contains oil, bacteria, and dead skin cells. Since the pore is blocked, there is no escape for the oil, and as more oil enters the pore, the bacteria reproduce quickly, causing the inflammation typical of a breakout. The Proactiv Solution counters acne using a treatment paradigm that has been embraced by many other acne treatment lines.

The first step is a cleanser meant to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells that can lead to blocked pores. The cleanser is also meant to remove any dead cells that are currently blocking pores, opening pores so that the bacteria within can be treated. Oil-free, the Proactiv cleanser also contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, a chemical that is thought to enter pores and prevent bacterial metabolism. One potential negative with this cleanser is that it does contain fragrance, which can irritate overly sensitive skin. Benzoyl peroxide can also be a source of irritation, but the Proactiv cleanser uses a very low concentration, and if used minimally at first, a tolerance can usually be built so that it can be used more often without any negative effects.

Following the cleanser, the next product in the Proactiv treatment plan is a toner containing witch hazel extract and other botanical ingredients. Toners are meant to follow-up cleansers by restoring the skin's natural pH. They can also play a role in removing dead skin cells, unplugging pores, and removing excess oil on the skin's surface. Although this toner contains potential skin irritants such as fragrance and color additives, it is alcohol-free where many other toners are not. This is important for all skin products, as alcohol can play a huge role in drying out the skin.

The final step in the Proactiv treatment uses a product they call a repairing lotion, a medicated lotion meant to heal existing acne blemishes and prevent breakouts in the future. The repairing lotion, like the cleanser, contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. Since this lotion is left on the skin and not rinsed off, it should be introduced slowly and on less sensitive areas of the face. This product also contains fragrance.

My own personal experience with the Proactiv 3-step treatment plan has been relatively positive. I have been using it for about a month now, and although my acne was never terrible, my texture improved noticeably and blemishes have healed more quickly. The treatment schedule suggests that you start using the products once a day for at least a week, and then increase to using them morning and night. I followed this plan, and I did find that my skin was getting slightly irritated by the repairing lotion, so even though I now use the cleanser and toner twice a day, I tend to use the lotion only once in the evening. I also don't use it on the sensitive skin right above my lip...one day of having a pink moustache was more than enough for me! I found that a good moisturizer was key to preventing the drying effects of the benzoyl peroxide. I didn't buy the Proactiv one, but the Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer is non-comedogenic and oil-free with SPF 15, so I found that it works well in its place. I feel like my skin would be dry if I didn't use moisturizer, but since I applied it right from the very beginning my skin never developed a dried-out appearance.

While the acne-preventing principles adopted by Proactiv are used by most acne treatment systems these days, other plans may have slightly different ingredients. This means that if Proactiv doesn't work for you, there's still a good chance that another series of cleansers, toners, and medicated lotions could help clear up your acne. As mentioned above, the Proactiv products all contain fragrance, which can be irritating, and the toner includes color additives, which may be unnecessary. I'm sure there are other product lines that are more natural. Also, benzoyl peroxide is not for everyone, no matter what the concentration, so if your skin feels irritated maybe try a line using a different active ingredient. If you haven't tried Proactiv yet, it does have a 60-day money-back guarantee, so it's probably worth considering. In the very least, it gets you into a good skin care regimen, which is a great habit to acquire. The best of luck to us all!!

Anti-aging Moisturizers in the Treatment of Adult Acne

Anti-aging moisturizers have traditionally been used to soften and hydrate the skin and removing fine lines and wrinkles. However, very few women know that this product can effectively be used to combat acne. There exists a connection between anti-aging and acne. Dermatologists, named Dr. Albert Klingman and Dr. Eugene Van Scott started research with the aim of finding an alternative for benzoyl peroxide in the treatment of acne, and they had Vitamin A in mind. Most over-the-counter acne treatment products, like Clearasil, Proactive and the like use benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient. The flip side is that repeated use of this product can dry out the skin. Dr.Klingman finally succeeded in deriving Retin A from Vitamin A, and Dr. Van Scott discovered the beneficial effects of Alpha Hydroxy Acids, commonly known as AHAs. Women started using these products to treat acne. Soon noticeable reduction in wrinkles of the skin was also noticed by the adult women using these substances for alleviating acne problems. Retin A and AHAs emerged as the most effective anti-aging skin care products all over the world.

Both acne and wrinkles stem from the same problem build up of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Skin becomes rigid and the outer layer of the skin that is less flexible creases to produce wrinkles. When the dead skin cells clog the pores on the skin, acne is formed. AHAs, like benzoyl peroxide, can exfoliate this outer layer of dead skin, and effectively educe acne and wrinkles. Since benzoyl peroxide dries out the skin while removing oil, it ends up increasing the amount of dead skin tissue on the face. Ordinary moisturizers cannot help because these contain oils that further block the pores and aggravate acne.

Eminent companies like Murad and Olay have come up with a solution, and have developed moisturizers that suit acne prone skin. Moisturizers formulated with emulsified Jojoba oil have also been developed. Jojoba oil is highly effectual in moisturizing the skin. However, its molecular weight is lesser than that of sebum, the oil formed by skin glands. Jojoba oil effectively penetrates the layer of sebum and unclogs the pores, clearing out nascent whiteheads and blackheads. These types of moisturizers can be blended with AHAs to aid in exfoliation and thereby prevent future attacks of acne.

These novel acne products thus provide two-fold protections effective acne treatment as well as termination of wrinkles.

Got Acne? Try Sulfur!

While shopping around for acne products, I found myself at a booth in the local mall, signing up for a two month program. Along with the basic three products, there was a bonus in the box, a mask containing, amongst other things, 6% sulfur. In addition to its use as a ten-minute mask, the directions also encouraged using the mask in small amounts on problem spots as an overnight treatment. After three nights of trial, it was my new favourite product, so I began looking into the uses of sulfur as an acne treatment.

According to many reports, sulfur (also spelled "sulphur") has been used in acne treatments since the days of Ancient Rome when people used to bathe in hot, sulfurous mineral water. As a chemical element, sulfur is odorless, but when combined with other elements it can have a strong, unpleasant smell. With the emergence of benzoyl peroxide in the 1920s, the focus turned to new chemicals, and sulfur was somewhat eclipsed by several other substances in the campaign against acne. Although slightly less popular, many of today's acne products still include sulfur. So why is it so amazing for acne?

Acne is often referred to as a disease of the sebaceous glands, tiny glands that are critical for normal skin functioning. The sebaceous glands secrete sebum, a combination of fats and debris from dead skin cells which lubricates and protects the skin against environmental damage. Sebum travels to the skin's surface via a hair follicle and pore. Sometimes, however, a pore can become blocked, which means that sebum and natural skin bacteria are prevented from coming to the surface. The bacteria within the clogged pore can be very irritating to the skin, triggering an immune reaction and causing the redness and inflammation often associated with acne.

Acne treatments can take several different types of approaches. Some address the reasons behind the blocked pore, such as excess sebum production or inadequate shedding of dead skin cells. Others work at reducing the symptoms of pain and redness. Treatments include hormone therapy, oral antibiotics, retinoids, and topical creams and ointments, which can be very effective and quite inexpensive. It is in topical acne products that sulfur is generally used.

Sulfur is a keratolytic agent, which means that it encourages shedding of dead skin cells which could block pores if retained. It also has comedolytic effects, helping to heal pre-existing comedones and preventing formation of new ones. For these reasons, sulfur is a frequent ingredient in cleansers and masks like the one that I tried. Even more popular is the combination of sulfur with sodium sulfacetamide, a sulfonamide that has antibacterial properties. Sulfonamides are thought to prevent bacterial growth through limiting key acids needed for their reproduction. Together, sulfur and sodium sulfacetamide are extremely effective in reducing inflammatory lesions and in preventing acne development.

While the mask that I tried was great as a bi-weekly acne product, it was its ability to reduce inflammation overnight that impressed me the most. Some studies suggest that sulfur may calm or soothe acne, but I suspect that it was only when combined with the other ingredients (such as geranium extract and tea tree leaf oil) that it was so effective. Sulfur is definitely useful in acne products, especially for its kerolytic and comedolytic properties, however be sure to check that the product has anti-inflammatory ingredients as well if you're looking for a nighttime treatment. Also, check with a dermatologist or skin care professional before leaving a product on overnight, unless it expressly recommends it on the directions...I didn't read the directions properly once, and I will never make that mistake again!!

A Few Things You Need to Know About Acne Types

Acne has been known to have different shapes and sizes and you can often hear or read about lesions, comedons, papule, pustule, nodule and cyst. These are the most frequent Acne types and here you can read more about them and how you can fight Acne.

The lesion is known to be caused mostly by an injury or a disease. The external lesions that appear on the skin can be caused by Acne, cuts or skin cancer. So when you hear about Acne lesions you should thing of damage on the skin and sebaceous follicle caused by Acne.

Acne lesions have different shapes and depend on the type of Acne. The Acne lesions are: Comedons (the blackheads and whiteheads), pustules, nodules and cysts.

Comedons appear due to the clogging of the skin pore by dead cells that come from the sebaceous follicle, small hairs, and even bacteria. The blackheads are opened comedons and can be easily seen as they are black points on the skin surface. They are not black because they have dirt inside as some people might think; they are like this because oxygen gets in contact with the clogged sebum and turns it into black.
Whiteheads are closed comedons; they do not get in contact with oxygen and appear as bumps in the skin. These two types of comedons should be removed only by a specialist in sterile conditions in order to avoid skin infections with streptococci, staphylococci and other skin bacteria.

The papule is another Acne type; it has less than 5mm, is solid and is generally found in groups. If you touch the affected area you might have the sensation of touching sand.

The pustule is a fragile lesion that can contain pus produced from dead cells, leucocytes and bacteria. Most of them are forming over a sebaceous follicle that has a hair in its center. They can heal nice without leaving scars on the skin but only if they do not transform into the cystic form.

The macule appears after the pimple has healed and left behind a reddish flat spot. They generally disappear in a few days or weeks but they are so unpleasant because they contribute to the unaesthetic appearance of the face skin.

The nodule is a painful, hard dome-shaped lesion accompanied by inflammation that resembles the papule. After the nodule is gone a scar can remain on the skin because the nodule generally infiltrates the deeper layers of the skin where it causes tissue destructions.

The most severe Acne lesion is the cyst. It is a combination between a nodule and a pustule. Sometimes on the skin cysts and nodules can occur in the same time and then doctors refer to it as a Nodular-Cystic form of Acne. Sometimes the only effective treatment against the cysts is the therapy with Isotretinoin. This form of Acne is most likely to leave scars and maculae after healing and must be treated very careful and on a long term in order for the therapy to succeed.

Acne Treatment Review - No Medicine Needed!

Ever heard of the 3 day acne cure?

When you understand how the 3 day acne cure works, then it isn't hard to see how powerful it can be, and that it isn't just "sales hype".

First, I'm going to tell you about a little bug called candida, commonly known as yeast. This is the first part to understanding the 3 day acne cure.

This nasty little bug loves to thrive in our intestines, especially pockets of old feces that are trapped inside the colon. The problem comes when candida gets out of control. To survive, the candida eats sugars but gives off nasty toxic waste in exchange which your body has to get rid of.

When there are too many of these toxins in the body they can cause all sorts of allergic reactions, and infections including acne. Are you addicted to sweet foods? That's because candida needs sugar to grow and live, so lots of sugars in your body and a bowel that's out of balance is the perfect breeding ground for candida.

Did you know that your colon can contain up to 25 pounds of undigested food, slime, foul and putrefied fecal matter trapped in your intestinal tract? This is definitely not good. Can you imagine what all the toxins in all this "dead yuck" is doing to your health?

The good news is that "Acne Free in 3 Days" gets rid of out of control candida naturally and easily.

Now you've learnt about candida and how it can cause acne. You also know that candida finds it's home in small pockets of feces in the colon (disgusting I know, but it's true!) Did you know that a 'dirty' colon can cause problems other than acne? Some health experts say that 90% of all sickness and diseases are related to an unclean colon!

If you have had for many years a diet with regular helpings of some of the following: Animal food (including dairy), fried food, coffee or tea, sugar, white flower, microwaved food, hydrogenated fats and drugs (such as aspirin or alcohol) then, you most likely have mucoid plaque in your colon.

See a picture of mucoid plaque: http://www.highly-rated.net/images/plaque.jpg

One of the best ways to clean out mucoid plaque is by colon cleansing. There are many different ways to perform a colon cleanse but there are some foods that you can start eating today to promote good intestinal health.

Eating lots of fibre-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, wholegrain breads and cereals are a good start. The fibres in apples and psyllium husks act likes a sponge by cleaning the walls of the colon. They also absorb toxins and other junk and help push waste through the colon.

The "Acne Free in 3 Days" program will show you an easy way of cleaning your colon with only a few natural ingredients.

There is only one small problem. If these wonderful cleansing foods don't exit your body fast enough, the body can actually re-absorb the toxins from them and create more problems!

"Acne Free in 3 Days" will show you the easiest way to flush your colon that only takes several minutes. Once you have done this for 3 days, you will feel and definately SEE the difference. Another benefits from the 3 day program is an increase in energy levels.

This covers the 3 parts of the "Acne Free in 3 Days" program. All you need now is the few cheap ingredients you can find at the supermarket and the correct instructions which are crucial to success.

Natural Smoothie Formula to Stop Constipation and Acne

Here is how to build a natural smoothie that can stop constipation, relieve acne, improve your skin and give you more energy. The smoothie base is a liquid slurry that can be used to add more natural ingredients.

The liquid base can be made from various fresh juices or rice, oat, or almond milks. I stay away from milk since milk creates mucus along the gastrointestinal lining. Choose and mix any of the following liquids and pour them into a blender.

Juices apple, pineapple, orange, tangerine
Milks rice dream, oat milk, almond milk

I use a combination of 40% rice dream, 40% almond milk, and 20% apple juice. You can use the combinations you like. Sometimes I might just use all rice dream. Other times I will mix 75% almond milk with 25% fresh apple juice.

All of these juices provide liquid to your colon to help your stop constipation.

Sesame Milk

You can also make sesame milk and use this in your smoothies.

In his book, Blending Magic, Bernard Jensen, Nutritionist, has a real nice recipe for sesame milk.

"I believe that sesame seed is one of our best. It is a wonderful drink for gaining weight and for lubricating the intestinal tract. Its nutritional value is beyond compare, as it is high in protein and minerals. This is the seed that is used so much as a basic food in Arabia and East India.

Blend for 1- 1 1/2 minutes to make smooth,

2 cups of distilled water
1/4 cup of Sesame Seed
2 Tablespoons Soy Milk Powder"

In place of 2 cups of distilled water use 1 cup of water and 1 cup of low fat rice dream and leave out the 2 tablespoons of soy milk powder. This will make this drink less fattening. I prefer not to give children soymilk or soy products because of their estrogen mimicking characteristics.
Banana Base

Next I always put in a banana. This gives the liquid a bit more thickness. Also bananas are high in potassium and other minerals. They contain little fiber and yet do not create constipation when used with other fiber fruits. Use bananas that are not spotted since at this point they are quite ripe and are more fattening.

I freeze bananas so when I am out of fresh ones I can use frozen ones.
Main Ingredients

Next I choose a fruit that will be the main ingredient. I use strawberries when they are in season, if you have fresh organic fruit, then this is the best way to create your smoothie. What I do is freeze fruit during its season so I can have some of this fruit a bit long than its seasonal run. If the fruit is organic, use the whole fruit without peeling. Whole fruits contain a lot of fiber that will help you stop constipation.

Choose from fruits that are in season.

Avocado
Cantaloupe
Peach, mango, papaya
Pineapple, apricots, apples
Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries
Figs
Dried prunes, peaches, apricots, figs

Nutrients to Add to Your Smoothie Base

Once you have your basic smoothie, you can add other nutrients that will provide you with additional fiber, oil, vitamins, minerals and many other nutrients.

Here is a shortlist of some of the ingredients you can add to your smoothies. Add only 2-3 other ingredients so your smoothie taste doesn't get to complex or unusual. But can experiment with the different nutrients you wish to add.

Almonds
Beet Juice powder
Black strap molasses
Capra mineral whey
Distilled water Ice cubes
Fig Juice syrup
Flaxseed and flax seed oil
Honey, rice syrup
Lecithin granules
Powder vitamin C
Raisins
Rice or oat bran
Sesame seeds
Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds
Wheat germ

Making smoothies is fun and nutritional. Once you create the base slurry, then you can add many other natural ingredients the will give energy, stop constipation, clear acne, and provide many other health benefits.

Aromatherapy for acne cure

Aromatherapy is considered as one of the most effective holistic medicines for skin diseases healing. Nowadays, aromatherapy baths and compress are very popular ways of aromatherapy skin care. Keep in mind that although all essential oils have therapeutic attributes, only certain of them are appropriate for acne treatment. What is more, you should always observe the safety precautions when using the essential oils. Never use essential oils undiluted to your skin. Always use a carrier oil for dilution and remember that generally only 2-3% dilution of essential oils in blends that will be applied to skin, is not only safe but also effectual.

How To Deal With Acne

When your pores are not working properly, excessive toxins in the pores can lead to acne. Body odor is also a result of toxins coming out through the skin that should be moving out through the other elimination channels. If your body skin is clean and its pores are open and unclogged, toxins will move out through the pores without creating pimples or eruptions. The skin normally moves 1-2 pounds of toxins out of your skin daily. You can tell when your pores are open. You sweat freely during exercise. If you do not sweat much during hot weather or during exercise, then your skin pores are probably plugged.

The symptoms of acne are persistent, recurrent pimples orblemishes on the skin. Acne is commonly foundon the face but can also occur on the chest, shoulder, neck and upper portion of the back (often referred to as bacne).

There are quite a large variety of acne home remedy treatment techniques you can try. Some people claim to have success with orange paste applied on the irritated areas. The citric acid in the paste may work on reducing the size and irritation of the acne condition. Other things that can help with acne are cucumbers and garlic, which also have some curative properties. Acne home remedy treatments can also include a good and healthy diet. Fresh fruit and plenty of water should be consumed daily in order to get rid of pimples. Hygiene of the affected areas is also vital as a clean and healthy skin will have less irritation and, consequently, fewer pimples.

Some prescription topical medicines are also effective acne treatments. They include antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, adapalene and tretinoin. These acne treatments help stunt the growth of bacteria and reduce inflammation. Depending on the skin type of the person, a doctor will prescribe the appropriate effective acne treatment. For instance, if one is with an oily skin, creams and lotions will not be advised since they are oil-based medications. Gels and solutions will suit more the oily skin since they are usually alcohol-based and tend to dry the skin. These medications are often subject to testing first before one could really consider them as effective acne treatments for their skin problem. As a case-by-case basis, side effects from topical medicines may surface. These side effects may include rashes, stinging, redness, burning, scaling and discoloration.

Homeopathic treatment is made from minerals, herbs and other natural extracts that activate the body's natural defenses. Because these ingredients are in minute concentrations, they trigger the body to heal itself without side effects.

Adult Acne - Are You Too Old For Acne?

There are many forms of acne, which would explain why it is so difficult to treat. I have listed several causes of acne and many of those may surprise you, but I also hope that they will help you discover what causes your acne. For instance, a great many people would likely be surprised to learn that acne is not caused by stress, as they may think, but more likely can be attributed to their fancy new perfume or cologne.

Here's a quick listing of the most common products used to treat acne click on the links that interest you for more information on that course of acne treatment. Benzoyl Peroxide kills the bacteria that causes acne. Proactiv Solution is a dermatologist formulated Combination Therapy acne management system. Salicylic Acid unclogs your pores and encourages skin renewal. Tretinoin (Retin-A)promotes healthy sloughing. Antibiotics kill bacteria and reduces inflammation. Oral Contraceptives help regulate hormone levels. Anti-Androgens inhibit the body's production of acne-causing hormones. Isotretinoin (Accutane) is a treatment for severe cystic or nodular acne.

It makes sense to cleanse and nourish from both the INSIDE and OUT. Your face and body do not need more clogging, synthetic oils and lotions. They need real nutrition that can make a difference when applied topically as well as nutrition internally to enhance detoxification and a healthy blood supply to the vessels beneath the skin's surface.

While, benzoyl peroxide can be used for short-term treatment of mild acne in the US, its long-term use has the potential to damage skin. On the whole, safer options that allow natural resolution of acne are recommended. Natural alternatives to benzoyl peroxide are calendula or tea tree oil. Psidium guajava and Juglans regia leaf extracts were found to be beneficial in treating acne. Granulysin peptides were also found to be effective against P.acne and may form an alternative therapy against acne in future.

Acne Skin Care - What Works and What Does Not?

Tetracycline is the most popular conventional treatment for acne. It may be used alone or in combination with benzoyl peroxide. Food, antacids, iron supplements, and milk can interfere with the absorption of this antibiotic, so it is important to remember to take it alone. This medication must be taken for a minimum of three months, and it often needs to be continued for even longer. It will take at least two months before any improvement is noticed. Other antibiotics may also be prescribed if tetracycline is not effective. These include: trimetoprim-sulfamethoxazole, minocycline, doxycycline, and erythromycin. Antibiotics also kill the good bacteria in your bowel and can cause your teeth to turn gray.

There are many other adults that are finding they still have to fight the battle with acne - now coined "adult acne". It is estimated that more than fifty percent of adult women between the ages of twenty-five and fifty-eight have some type of adult acne, and those numbers are only getting larger.

Isotretinoin: Like the topical retinoic acid, this medication is a derivative of vitamin A and it works to prevent the blockage of oil glands. However, blocking the glands does not fix the problem.

Eye shadows, blush on, moisturizer, and other cosmetics we use should be free from oily substances to permit healthy acne skin care maintenance. Even hairstyling products in forms of gels or aerosols that come in close contact with the skin may destroy a healthy acne skin care practice. Choose hairstyling products, which are commercially labeled as non-comedogenic are products which do not provoke the formation and growth of blemishes and other related skin disorders.

Though acne is a common problem, it is also one skin disease that is very easy to treat and prevent. There are many products that a person could consider as the best acne treatment. The best acne treatment for a person could be not the best acne treatment for another. This is because the best acne treatment is determined by the type of skin a person has and the skin reaction on that treatment. The best acne treatment could also range from the medical ones which are proven best acne treatments that modern medicine has to offer up to herbal medicines that are also accepted as the best acne treatment to some people.

How to Deal With Teenage Acne

Acne is a highly complex condition that involves many parts of the body. It tends to show up as only eruptions on the face and else where on your skin. It is a signal that you have problems somewhere deep within your body. Acne can be caused by a dirty colon, poor food digestion, a weak liver and other conditions that will cause your blood to carry too much toxic materials.

In order to clear acne, it is not always possible to stick to one treatment and expect it to go away. However, it may be possible to just use one special cream and see your acne literally disappear.

Acne may go away by just doing one thing but do not expect that forever. A facial cream, proper diet, herbal treatment, exercise, and colon cleanse themselves may not be able to get the job done. You will need to perform a certain combination to see desired results.

An important concept to remember is if your facial pores are not open or cleaned, they can build up toxic oil which is very hard to clean. This results in a growth or pimple that begins to increase in size as more toxic oil tries to reach the surface of your skin. If the pore walls burst under the skin, white blood cells move in to digest the collagen around the pores. This results in major scars appearing on your face.

To avoid visible scars, you will need to start an acne cleansing program before or just as soon as you see acne coming. This will ultimately prevent pimples and back heads getting to the point where they are severely infected and burst.

Living with acne over a long period of time, (mostly during your teen years), can be emotionally stressful. Keep in mind; this is the age where your appearance is the most important. Teen acne is specifically hard on the ego. Many times this results in the basic teasing from your classmates. Because of this many teens not only suffer from the obvious acne, but also depression.

During their adolescent years, a high percentage of teenagers will have at least one whitehead, blackhead, or pimple. Teenage acne usually occurs between the ages of 12 and 20. This is usually the result of conflicting hormone levels. Once the hormones are in order, the acne will usually disappear in a short amount of time.

Eating healthy and drinking plenty of water will help by keeping your skin hydrated. Girls should preferably use oil free cosmetics. Lightly exfoliating once a week will help open the pores, and remove dead skin cells.

Smaller cases of acne can be controlled by using over the counter medicines that are applied directly to the skin. These medications almost always include benzoyl peroxide as an active ingredient.

Natural products that can be used to treat acne are tea tree oil or green tea. You should wash your face twice a day with a mixture of these herbs in order to reduce the number of break outs. Both ingredients have anti inflammatory qualities.

As teenagers get older and their hormones are in full control, their acne should have started to disappear. Some people continue to have outbreaks even as during their adult life. If the teenage acne condition worsens or becomes emotionally debilitating, it is very important see a dermatologist.

MYTHS of ACNE

Acne, the most general of all skin disorders and the bane of almost every adolescent face, is caused due to various biological factors mostly related to the function of the sebaceous glands. But there are some myths joined with it. I am discussing it below.

Myth 1
There are many causes of acne, but dirt is not one. Blemishes get bigger when hair follicles are plugged as an outcome of dead skin cells mixing with the body's natural oily substances. Dirt is never involved in this process, so excessively washing your face or body more than two or three times a day will not make your acne better. Actually, too much washing or the abuse of harsh cleansing scrubs will almost certainly make your skin dehydrated and encourage flaking and the need to produce more oil.

Myth 2
The second of many popular acne myths is that acne is for teenagers only. This is dangerous in a number of ways. First, it may cause that teenagers wait until their acne is over instead of looking for therapy. This may lead to severe cases of acne scarring. Then, this may embarrass adults, preventing them from seeking treatment. This is a terrible misconception. Acne is not exclusive of teenagers. Acne can be found in different age groups and it varies from individual to individual and from treatment to treatment.

Myth 3
A third acne myth is that acne is just a superficial condition. Although acne is not a life threatening health condition, it can deeply affect a person's self-esteem; and even lead to depression. Moreover, after acne is over, it may leave physical and psychological scarring.

Myth 4
Myth number four is that treatment directly on the spot works. This is a longstanding acne myth. As pimples take two to three weeks to grow, just direct administration of products will not tackle the root of the problem, but just deal with an old symptom. The only method to deal with acne is to prevent blemishes from developing. This requires treatment of the entire area of skin where acne is occurring. This helps to reduce the future development of new acne spots.

Myth 5
The next popular acne myth is that certain foods cause or exacerbate acne. Actually, no scientist has been able to establish a direct correlation between food and acne. Nevertheless, a healthy diet is always recommended. It will make your body strong and it will help you feel better in your struggle against acne.

Myth 6
Cosmetics cause acne. Nowadays the majority of make-up products are non-comedogenic. That means they will not plug your follicles and initiate the development of acne. At the moment of choosing make-up, get non-comedogenic, oil-free (water-based) and hypoallergenic (no added fragrance) products.

Clear Your Acne And Get Healthy Radiant Skin

Vaginal candidiasis is not considered a sexually transmitted disease. However, 12% to 15% of men will develop symptoms such as itching and penile rash following sexual contact with an infected partner.

Probiotics are those little bacteria numbering in the billions that help you live a good healthy life. They help to process food and enhance the absorption of B vitamins. You can end the chronic yeast infection that plagues you by simply starting a daily long term use of probiotics.

In general, symptoms of yeast infection will include two or more of the following: fatigue, depression, brain fog, insomnia, bloating, gas, intestinal cramps, chronic diarrhea or constipation, sensitivity to chemicals, perfumes or other odors, loss of sex drive, allergies and food sensitivities. And thats just for starters. If you are a woman, you might also experience recurrent yeast infections, bladder infections, and have painful menstruation or PMS. A man might suffer from persistent jock itch, athletes foot, other fungal infections, or prostititis. Symptoms in children can include recurring colds, sore throats, ear infections, and digestive problems like gas, constipation or diarrhea.

There are many treatments available, including antifungal creams and prescription pills from physicians. However, the best and most effective treatments are simple home remedies that have a long-lasting effect, with no side effects. In fact, these remedies not only cure the infection, they can also be taken daily to prevent infection. This is unlike the antifungal medication, which can only be taken during an infection due to the fact that the medication can lose effectiveness if taken regularly.

Physical ailments as well as some health complications may occur if severe cases of Candidiasis develop. Candidiasis can bring discomfort as well as pain to the body if no treatments are applied. There are various treatments that may be used for Candidiasis, however attention as well as knowledge is required to overcome severe yeast infections.

Thrush, also known as Candidiasis, is a fungus found in the mouth, genitalia areas, digestive tract and skin. In healthy people, the production of friendly bacteria in the system prevents the fungus from causing disease. However, weakened or damaged immune systems may result in the dangerous growth of the ailment-causing fungus. In addition, certain prescription drugs may offset the balance of natural organisms in the body. Such drugs include the extended use of: antibiotics, chemotherapy, AIDS/HIV treatments, antihistamines, steroids and oral contraceptives with a high estrogen content.

For women who have recurring yeast infections, going to the pharmacy to purchase an over-the-counter treatment is not only time-consuming, but can prove to be quite expensive. The best way to treat a yeast infection is to deal with the root cause of the problem. This is where natural remedies come in. If you want a long term, more permanent solution, go natural!
